Stone Magnet · Banksy - Floating Girl

Floating Girl is considered one of the works Banksy painted on the West Bank barrier in 2005. A little girl holds on to a bunch of balloons and slowly rises into the air; reduced stencil lines and the floating posture of the figure give the scene an almost weightless effect. The work poetically tells of the longing to overcome borders and the dream of freedom. In Girl with Balloon, the balloon slips away from the girl; here the balloons carry the girl, and hope really does take off. The contrast between the heaviness of the wall and the lightness of the figure is the motif's greatest strength.

That contrast continues here: a light image on heavy stone. A delicate keepsake for everyone who met this motif at the exhibition.
