Happy Choppers is one of Banksy's anti-war motifs. It appeared as a stencil in London in 2003 and was released as a print the same year. A heavily armed Apache attack helicopter flies towards the viewer with its squadron, but the one at the front wears a big pink bow on its rotor head. In this version, the scene is set against a bright blue sky with fluffy white clouds. With a single cute detail, Banksy tips the threatening image of military power into the absurd and mockingly asks how easily war can be trivialised and sold.
A memory that lasts, for everyone who wavered between a smile and unease in front of this helicopter with a bow in our exhibition. And for everyone discovering the work anew, a colourful way into Banksy's irony, which combines the cute and the dangerous in one image.
With its strong blue, it brings energy to bright living rooms, young studios or creative offices. An eye-catching gift for fans of pop art and political humour!
