Stone Magnet · Banksy - Rude Copper

Rude Copper is one of Banksy's early works that make fun of authority, and was also released as a print in 2002. A police officer in classic British uniform, with helmet and upright posture, shows the viewer the middle finger directly. That the very figure who stands for order and discipline makes the crudest of all gestures creates a sharp humour that turns expectations upside down. The black-and-white stencil lines keep the scene reduced and direct all attention to this one gesture. The work is one of the most direct and wittiest examples of Banksy's recurring engagement with police and surveillance.

A small but bold keepsake for everyone who had to smile in front of this police officer at the exhibition; the weight of the stone forms a lovely contrast to the lightness of the joke.

For the fridge, the metal board at the office or as a gift for friends who don't take rules too seriously.
